Worldwide total shipments for PlayStation 4 have reached 60 million, Sony announced in its financial results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2017.
For the full fiscal year (April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017), Sony shipped 20 million PS4 units, up from 17.7 million units during the prior fiscal year.
In terms of actual financials, Sony’s video game division, Game & Network Services, saw revenue jump 6.3 percent year-over-year to $14.73 billion. Sony said the uptick in sales was primarily due to a spike in PS4 game sales, along with hardware sales also rising year-over-year. The increases were partially offset by the impact of the PS4 price cut and foreign exchange rates.
Sony forecasts it will ship 18 million PlayStation 4s in fiscal year 2017, which began on April 1, 2017 and ends March 31, 2018 for a total of 78 million total PlayStation 4s shipped by next March.
